Best classroom innovations

A classroom is the building block of a student’s educational journey. Off late, many innovative ideas have found their way to the traditional teaching methods of its four walls. The teachers are trying out to make learning effective, engaging, and fun using these innovative techniques.


Audio and visual supplements are a hot favorite amongst school and colleges alike. To boost students’ learning and understanding, many educational institutions in India have AV-equipped classrooms or venues. Smart-boards come handy while explaining difficult subject like Physics/Maths/Chemistry through the graphical representation of complex equations.

The concept of flip methodology or classroom has also gained momentum in recent years. Some of the pioneers of the flip classroom in India are B-schools like SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) and Indian School of Business (ISB). Flip methodology promotes greater student involvement in the learning process.It also lays down the foundation of independent learning.

Role play is another innovative learning tool that has made way to the classrooms. It has found many takers in the pre-schools to senior secondary level. So now, the students are not confined to only reading about the historical characters, they become them.

Peer teaching, one of the most effective strategies to even up the learning curve of a class, is famous in B-schools and now widely used at all levels of education irrespective of affiliation, boards, or curriculum. Government Higher Primary School (GHPS) in KadasiKopa in the Kanakapura Taluk in Karnataka has been a trailblazer among government schools by successfully and strategically implementing peer teaching on a daily basis.
